Eschew Envy, Embrace Contentment and Mind Your Business.

Have you ever heard of the saying that goes "minding your business is a full time business". Envy is an age long ill feeling of jealousy, covetousness, dissatisfaction, inadequacy, illicit ambitions and all its associated demons... And the father of them is unhealthy comparison and rivalry.
The Bible teaches us in  Proverbs 14:30; "A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones." ... Proverbs 23:17-18; "Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD.

Envy can be a destructive emotion both mentally and physically. Envious people tend to feel hostile, resentful, angry and irritable. ... Envy is also related to depression, anxiety, the development of prejudice, and personal unhappiness. Not surprisingly, these negative mental states can impact physical health.

Envy has a twin and that is covetousness and that is because wherever the feeling of envy/jealousy lies comes the feeling to snatch by whatever means available the blessing of the person being envied even if it means permanently destroying such person's life and destiny and that is what makes it a very dangerous and deadly sin for example is the strong desire for a friend's brand new car. (obsolete) Malevolence.

Here's a few ways as to how to stop being jealous.

1. Shift your focus to the goodness of God in your life and be grateful always to Him all the time no matter what.

2. Remind yourself that nobody has it all.

3. Learn to genuinely appreciate the good in others as you pray and aspire for yours.

4. Ask the Holy Spirit of God to help you if you are struggling in this area.

5. Avoid people who habitually value the wrong things and stop trying to belong to get human affirmation that will cost you your your peace of mind and joy.

6. Spend time with grateful people.

7. Understand that marketers of human vanity routinely fan the flame just to feel good about themselves.

8. Celebrate the success of others.

9. Be generous.

10. Change your circle if you must.

Thank you and God bless you.
